Month 1:

  • Introduction to Fashion Designing: History and evolution
  • Elements and principles of design
  • Understanding body shapes and proportions
  • Introduction to textiles and fabrics
  • Basics of sketching and drawing


Month 2:

  • Fashion illustration: Drawing human figures and poses
  • Exploring different drawing techniques and rendering fabrics
  • Introduction to color theory and its application in fashion design
  • Creating mood boards and developing fashion concepts
  • Fashion forecasting and trend analysis


Month 3:

  • Pattern making: Basic pattern drafting techniques
  • Garment construction: Sewing techniques and machine operation
  • Introduction to draping and mock-ups
  • Understanding commercial patterns and altering them
  • Introduction to different types of stitches and seams
Month 4:
  • Designing for different occasions and target markets
  • Silhouette and garment styles: Creating basic designs
  • Introduction to surface techniques: Embroidery, beading and applique
  • Developing custom prints and patterns
  • Designing and constructing simple garments (skirts, tops, etc.)


Month 5:

  • Advanced pattern making: Drafting patterns for different garment types
  • Designing and constructing dresses and trousers
  • Exploring different neckline and sleeve variations
  • Designing and constructing jackets and coats
  • Exploring different closures and fastenings


Month 6:

  • Portfolio development: Presenting your work in a professional manner
  • Concepts and techniques for fashion shows and exhibitions
  • Understanding the business side of fashion: Marketing and merchandising
  • Introduction to fashion branding and promotion

Final project: Designing and constructing a complete collection
